During 2014 I hit upon the idea of finding cover versions of every song from an album. The specific album wasn’t settled upon until I heard a cover of R.E.M.’s Cuyahoga by The Decemberists. The original could be found on R.E.M.’s 1986 album “Lifes Rich Pageant” and it happens to be one of my favourites. A quick investigation on Youtube proved that I’d probably have a good shot at creating an alternative take on the album and so I set to work gathering information.
At some point during this little project. I hit upon the idea that the data I was collecting could probably be visualised in some way, and so I created a webpage. The page started simply but more and more ideas came to my mind and eventually I had an interactive infographic containing live performances, cover videos, audio streams, song lyrics, facts and figures, and all of it is self-contained witin a single page.
I’ve embedded the page below but I didn’t plan on it being responsive so the fixed width doesn’t quite work here in this blog.
